How to edit/view My Details

View My Details' contains the personal information you provided when you registered with StuffAlert together with your communications preferences.

When signed into StuffAlert you can access this information by clicking on 'View My Details' which you'll find within 'My Account'.

Click on 'Edit My Details' in 'My Account' to make any changes to your information including :-

  1. Your account - email address or password
  2. Personal information - name, country etc.
  3. Email preferences1
  4. Time zone

Simply click on the relevant tab 'Account', 'About Me' or 'Communications' to access the information you want to edit. Make any changes and then click on Save .

Please note1 : Email preferences here are for Adminstrative and Marketing (Newswire) emails we may send to you from time to time for which you have the option to control whether or not you would like to recieve them. Your Alert Emails (found eBay items) are controlled via Edit My Alerts.

 


  • Changing your password you need to  :-
  1. Enter your password in the box 'Current password' (this is the password that is changing)
  2. Enter 'Password' (this is your new password)2
  3. Enter 'Confirm password' (this is your new password)2
  4. Then scroll to bottom of page and click Save

Please note2 : You need to enter your new password twice, this is to make sure you have typed in exactly the same password. Your password has to be a minimum of 6 characters long and are case/character sensitive, your are prompted realtime when you make a mistake entering password details as to what the problem is.

After any successful update the following message will be displayed :-

  • Changing your email address you need to  :-
  1. Enter your password in the box 'Current password' (this is needed to make the change)
  2. Enter you new email address in box 'E-mail address*' (this is the new email address)
  3. Then scroll to bottom of page and click Save
  4. You will then be sent 2 emails3, one to the new address and one to the original email address you registered wth us.
  5. The email sent to the new address will contain a security URL link4 which you need to click on or cut and paste into your web browser. This action verifys you new email address and validates it. (This is done for secuity reasons).

Please note3 : We send you 2 emails when you request to change your email address for security reasons. Click here to read more as to why we do this.

Please note4 : The email activation link is valid for 24 hours from when the email is sent to you by us. If you do not action the link for whatever reason in this timeframe then the original email remains active. Click here to read more as to why we do this.

  • Setting  your Time zone you need to  :-

There are three ways by which you can select your Time zone. The default setting is UTC (Universal Coordinated Time) which is synomous with GMT (Greenwhich Mean Time).To set your Time zone simply use one of the following:

  1. By selecting from the drop-down box your Time zone or
  2. By clicking on Detect, this automatically identifies your location based on your computers connection to the internet or
  3. By clicking on the appropriate location on the world map
  4. Then scroll to bottom of page and click Save

Once set all times displayed on the website, including the start and ending times of items shown in My Found Stuff will be in the Time zone you have selected.
